Just Go With It.

May 30, 2010 at 8:41 pm | Posted in Frostee Loves Way Too Many Guys, Huh?, Lars Nicklas Backstrom, Randomness | Leave a comment

It’s been over 24 hours since the game started, but I still don’t really know what to say about it.  That game was a really surreal experience.  I have to admit that for the mythical “casual fan” it was probably highly enjoyable, and it was.  But it was the Stanley Cup Finals.  6-5 final score?  That’s cahrazy.  I don’t know what else to say about it yet.

All I’m going to say about Ryan Miller is that once again I got that, “OMG I love him I’m so glad he’s Buffalo’s” feeling.  That’s one of my faves.

But I’m not talking about either of those today.  Today, I am bringing to the internet a piece of complete nonsense an opinion I have held for a long time and finally have time to put on here.

I am of the belief that the Swedish hockey player Lars Nicklas Backstrom and the tennis stud Rafael Nadal share a striking resemblance.

Stick with me on this!  I know it’s crazy.  When I first made this discovery at some point last year (I can’t remember which tennis tournament it was during) I was surprised when the thought popped into my head, but I truly believe it’s based on fact.

Observe:

Rafael Nadal, tennis star, Euro hottie, all-around hunk.

Compare to:

Nicklas Backstrom, Swedish, insanely talented player.

Look at them!!  Long hair!  Round faces (although Rafael’s has gotten a little more chiseled)!  Similar mouths!  They both even have the exact same smile.  I couldn’t find two pictures to compare, so you’ll just have to trust me on this one.

Lars Nicklas is like the ying to Rafa’s yang.  There is a resemblance there.

I apologize for the utter ridiculousness of this post.  I just had to get it out there.

I Need This Olympic Break.

February 6, 2010 at 9:53 am | Posted in Alex Ovechkin, Atlanta Thrashers, Buffalo Sabres, Carolina Hurricanes, Chris Clark, Columbus Blue Jackets, Frostee Loves Way Too Many Guys, Happy!!, Lars Nicklas Backstrom, Losing Sucks, Olympics, Ryan Miller, Sidney Crosby, That was absolutely terrible., Washington Capitals, Winning Is Totally Awesome | 1 Comment

I think the Sabres and I need this Olympic break.  I’m pissed as hell at them and we need to regroup.  I’m not sure how much I’ll be able to watch them this week since I’m insanely ridiculously busy (last week before break, whoop whoop), but this might not be the worst thing.  I mean, they lost to Carolina last night.  The Carolina Hurricanes.  And Ryan Miller was terrible.  And he’s playing every game at the Olympics.  We’re screwed.

However, one glance at the schedule right after the Olympics proves that it’s not exactly going to get better, what with the Sabres playing Pittsburgh and Washington (I’ll be there!  I’ll be there!) back-to-back.  Yikes.

The Caps, however, continue to be SO AMAZING AND FUN AND EXCITING.  FREE CHICKEN WINGS FOR EVERYONE!!  I encourage all of you to take a gander at the league leaders stat page on NHL.com.  It is HIGHLY ENJOYABLE to do so.

Lars Nicklas and Sidney Crosby are tied for points.  Just throwing that out there.  CLEARLY Sidney is the better player, though.

My parents were at the Sabres game last night and I’ve never seen them come home from a game as pissed as they were last night.  It was a mess.  I need to stop fuming about it.

Tonight the Sabres travel to Columbus to take on my beloved Chris Clark.  I still feel a dull ache when I think of him despite how ridiculous Alex has been since he got himself the C.  I, however, will be missing the game as I will be attending a party.  Oh, Christopher.  Know that you and your classiness will be on my mind.

If I check my phone at 9:30 tonight and find that the Sabres lost to Columbus too, I might have to do something drastic.

Filling The Void.

(I’ll get to the Sabres game in a minute, which, by the way, was hella boring.  But first I have an important announcement.)

If you spent any time around this blog last spring, you’ll know that I had something of an inappropriate crush on Sergei Fedorov.  I couldn’t help it.  He was a great leader, he helped Alex Semin hugely, and he won the first round series for Washington.  And he was slightly attractive, in that Russian way.  When he left for Russia, I was heartbroken and really had no desire to find a new Creepy Old Man Crush.  I figured I’d stick to the youngins for a while.

Enter Mike Knuble.  Back over the summer I thought he was a great addition, and now, halfway through the season, I will gladly proclaim him to be the BEST OFFSEASON SIGNING EVAH.  Look at him!  I can’t even remember the last time he didn’t score in a game, and almost every time he does score it’s a two-goal game.  He crashes the net!!  He teaches the Caps that it’s an okay thing to do!!  Did you SEE Lars Nicklas’s goal last night?  Chances are he never even would have tried that if Mike Knuble hadn’t been there to lead the way.  He’s a veteran leader.  Remember that one game back that one time?  I don’t even remember, but I do remember that he single-handedly killed off a penalty.  He’s hilarious.  (My mom still mentions swollen feet at the most random times and it ALWAYS cracks us up.  God bless him, he’s such an old man.)  He helps out charities.  He has cute kids.  He thinks Alex and Nicki are two of the best players in the world.  He looks beyond ridiculous in hard hats.  He has questionable taste in music.

Yes, Mike Knuble is my new Creepy Old Man Crush.  He’s old enough to be my father, but every time he scores a goal from three inches away from the net, I simply don’t care.  Mike Knuble, I don’t know how the Caps won games before you came to town.

I know that  we’re not supposed to act like spoiled fans and we’re supposed to be grateful that the team wins and brings in two points, but the Sabres game last night was still something of a snoozer.  The one Wednesday night was too, but I was there with friends and overtime and the shootout were exciting (did I really just say the shootout was exciting?) so I didn’t mind as much.  Sitting at home on the couch, it wasn’t like there was much happening.  It was fun to see Henrik Tallinder get a goal, and Thomas Vanek might break the twenty-goal mark yet, but the Bruins proved yet again that they make games boring.  The two points still were critical though, especially with Ottawa coming up this week.  They’re closing the gap and it’s not like we can count on the Sabres to beat them.  Pittsburgh on Monday will be a tough game too, but the Sabres are technically a better team and they should win.  I like beating Pittsburgh.  It’s fun.

Ryan Miller looked great again last night.  I was getting a little worried about him out west, but maybe he’s righted the ship.  I’d still like to see Lalime out there this week.  Maybe Monday?  Since he’s played really well against Pittsburgh this year?  I get worried about Ryan burning out.

I’m not going to comment on Mike Green’s hit because it could go either way.  He definitely got the elbow up there, but the NHL is so inconsistent with their discipline it’s not even like we can predict what will happen.  They have spoken about cracking down on headshots more recently though, so you’ve got to wonder if a suspension will come just to reinforce that point.

The Leafs Make Me Laugh(s).

January 16, 2010 at 6:11 pm | Posted in Alex Ovechkin, Brooks Laich, Frostee Loves Way Too Many Guys, Happy!!, Jose Theodore, Lars Nicklas Backstrom, Mike Knuble, Players, Rick DiPietro, Toronto Maple Leafs, Washington Capitals, Winning Is Totally Awesome | Leave a comment

The last time the Caps played the Leafs, it was embarrassing for the Caps.  This time when the Caps played the Leafs, it was still embarrassing…but for the Leafs.  I know I’ve been saying it a lot lately (because for the most part, the teams I like have really been spoiling me), but that game was SO MUCH FUN.  I’ve just been having so much fun watching hockey lately and the hockey has been so much fun to watch and I love hockey.

Theo played very well.  I’m quite proud of him.  Alex also played a great game.  It’s probably one of the best games I’ve seen him play all year.  It seems sort of like he’s evolving into a passer while Lars is evolving into a shooter.  I’m not sure how I feel about that.  I like when Alex scores insane amounts of goals.

I still think Brooks should have gotten the C (yeah, I know, I need to get over that), but Alex has grown on me as captain.  I just can’t help it.  Sorry.

Mike Knuble is totes awesome.  Love him.  Awesome pickup, GMGM.  Now that his finger appears to be healed, he’s once again been doing exactly what the Caps need him to.

Confession:  I have a crush on Tomas Fleischmann.  He’s been really good this year and his impression of Jim Carey in “Dumb and Dumber” cracks me up to the point where I do it every time he scores.  You go, Flash.  Just keep doing what you’re doing.

I get the feeling Ron Wilson hates his team.  A lot.  I certainly don’t blame him, but it must really suck having to coach them every day.  I don’t think I’ll ever get tired of playing against Vesa Toskala.

I still don’t like Jason Chimera.

The Sabres are on Long Island tonight.  Ricky is in net for the Islanders.  I hope Buffalo puts up eight on him.

More Happiness.

Woo!!  Yay!!  Hurray!!  I know it’s been said in several other players, but dude, are the Sabres ever going to lose again?  They’re so awesome and lovable and good right now.  Sabres, you guys are the bestest.

The first two and a half minutes of the game last night were the best, especially since I was sitting a few rows behind the net where the first three goals were scored.  It was pretty cool.  Goosie makes the best faces.

I have a confession:  When Vinny scored I looked over at a couple friends sitting a few sections over and we all made little hearts with our hands.  Yeah, we went there.

Jochen Hecht looked rather zippy.  I guess wanting to make the Olympics is really good motivation to play the best hockey you possibly can…Mike Green.

Sometimes low-scoring games can be fun if they’re fast and exciting, but when I’m actually at the game, I judge the awesomeness by how many times I get to stand up and cheer for a goal.  I stood up five times last night, therefore it was a pretty awesome game.

The Sabres have won every game I’ve gone to this year except the preseason game.  This is much better than last year and the year before that.

My jersey thoroughly enjoyed its first meeting with HSBC Arena.  It hopes to become better acquainted with the arena, but understands that twice a year my other jersey gets to head on over for the game.

Just watch this.  What a doofus.  I love them all.  Except maybe Mike Green.  Um, Michael, what were you doing with your legs when you were sitting down there?

I also finally watched that NHL Network special on Alex’s goals.  Guys, that’s pretty much why I fell in love with him.  He is RATHER good at hockey, I’m not sure if you’ve noticed.

I hope the Sabres blow out the Leafs tomorrow night.  That would be fun.  I would also appreciate it if the Caps actually win the second game in a row tonight, since losing three straight is enough losses for now, thanks very much.

Happy Boxing Day!!

December 26, 2009 at 11:55 am | Posted in Alex Ovechkin, Buffalo Sabres, Frostee Loves Way Too Many Guys, Happy!!, Olympics, Ottawa Senators, Patrick Lalime, Players, Ryan Miller, Semyon Varlamov, Tyler Myers, Washington Capitals | 1 Comment

I hope you all enjoyed your day yesterday, whether you celebrate Christmas or Festivus or any other holidays that fell over the past few days.  I know I did.

Santa didn’t bring me as many hockey-related gifts as he did last year, but I did get a Sabres calendar, a fleece blanket in Sabres colors (to go with the fleece blanket in Caps colors I had already gotten), and, of course, my new jersey.

It’s so pretty.  It’s a third jersey, because the slugs are ugly and I don’t want to wear them and supposedly they’ll be gone after this season.  It’s blank.  I’m toying with getting it customized with Tyler’s name and number, because I kind of adore him (and it only made me love him more when he ran into Alex Wednesday night and bounced off), but I might just leave it blank because it’s kind of cool like that too.  Now, I just have to get to a few Sabres games that the Caps aren’t playing in so I can actually wear the thing to HSBC Arena.

Team Russia’s roster was announced late Thursday night.  It was rather exciting.  The original list I saw freaked me out a bit because Alex’s name was the second last, but fear not, it was there.  It also made me laugh because for Varly it said “Semen Varlamov.”  Semen and Jizz, together for the Olympics.  Even if he doesn’t see any ice time, which I doubt he will, it’s still really exciting that Varly made the team and will be able to get invaluable experience for Sochi.  I don’t know too much about the KHL players on the team, but I do know that the offense is really, really scary.  Holy cow.  Watch out, everyone.  These guys are loaded.

Will Lala be starting tonight?  I’m sure the Sabres will lose either way, so they might as well give Ryan the night off.  Especially after he gave up five goals Wednesday.  It seems like we’ve been seeing an awful lot of the Senators lately even though this is only the third game against them this season.  The Senators have been getting a lot of press-time lately, between partaking in poisoning opponents and arson and getting engaged to Carrie Underwood.  (Has everyone seen the rock?  It’s huge.  She’d sink straight to the bottom.) Alfie and Spezza are out and Heatley is gone so the Sabres won’t have to deal with that, but I still have no faith in them against this team.

After the way the Caps manhandled the Sabres and put five past Miller, I’m looking forward to seeing how they handle Marty Brodeur tonight.  If they get swept by the Devils I might cry.

Now, off to go eat all the leftover Christmas cookies.

One More Day!!

December 22, 2009 at 2:37 pm | Posted in Alex Ovechkin, Chris Butler, Frostee Loves Way Too Many Guys, Happy!!, Ryan Miller, Tyler Myers, Winning Is Totally Awesome | Leave a comment

I only have one more day of school to get through before I’m free.  Yes, vacation will be considerably less awesome now that I have TWO major tests the first two days back, but I’m going to try to enjoy the first few days of it without thinking about the hideous amounts of work I have to do.

(An aside:  For reals, who assigns a major test the first two days back and who reschedules one a week and a half later after a week straight of no school?  Ridiculous.  I don’t like it.)

I was unable to watch the Sabres game last night, as I was hiding the body cramming for the test we were lead to believe was today.  From what I’ve read, it sounds like the Sabres played a fairly crappy game, Ryan Miller was outrageous, Derek Roy won it all for them in overtime.  The crap and Ryan Miller parts sound about right.

Um, did Tyler get hurt last night?!?! Not cool, Tyler.  I don’t like when you’re hurt.  Fix that discomfort and heal up.

It’s nice to hear Sir Christopher was skating again.  I miss him ever so much and hope he returns soon.  Poor dear, he hasn’t been able to help any old ladies cross the street in ages!

Just in case you had all forgotten, THE SABRES PLAY THE CAPITALS AGAIN TOMORROW!!  WEEEEEEEEEEE!!!!!  So exciting.  Not much to report on the Caps front other than they took four of six points on their road trip, Varly won’t be playing tomorrow night, and Alex has gotten even FATTER.  Dude, for the love of all that is holy, lay off the nachos.  Fat does not sit well on you.  I know you want to work Lars’s babyfat look, but trust me, the abs were bad.

And that’s all I have to say for now.

Things That Are Good And Things That Are Bad.

December 10, 2009 at 10:48 am | Posted in Alex Ovechkin, Alexander Semin, Buffalo Sabres, Chris Clark, David Steckel, Frostee Loves Way Too Many Guys, Happy!!, Henrik Tallinder, I Was At The Game!, Lars Nicklas Backstrom, Losing Sucks, Nathan Gerbe, Other Teams' Back-up Goalies Kind of Suck, Players, Rob Ray, Ryan Miller, Steve Montador, Tyler Myers, Washington Capitals, Winning Is Totally Awesome | 2 Comments

Things that are good:

  • SNOW DAY!!!!!  YEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEESSSSSSSSSSSSSS!!!!!!

Thing that are bad:

  • Still having to study for the reading quiz I’ll have if school isn’t canceled tomorrow.

Things that are good:

  • Ryan Miller.  Holy HELL, is that man good at hockey.  It was totally awesome when Sabretooth was bowing down to him.  He’s so good.  My jaw dropped multiple times.  Ryan, I want to thank you for redeeming yourself this year and making it less embarrassing for me to love you (because I don’t really broadcast it anymore, but I do still love him).  You’re so good at being a goaltender.  Just don’t burn out on me, ‘kay?

Things that are bad:

  • Getting shut out by the Sabres.  Um, Caps, you saw tape from their last two games, right?  Yikes, you need to learn how to score on elite goaltenders.

Things that are good:

  • Chris Clark totally looking at me three times.  Love ya, Christopher.

Things that are bad:

  • Fehric trying to flip me a puck and failing miserably.  Things Eric Fehr is not good at:  Shootouts, flipping pucks to dedicated fans during the pre-game skate.

Things that are good:

  • The Sabres killing off that power play the Caps had early on.  Wowzers, Sabres.  I know you have a great penalty kill, but the Caps have a great power play.  Y0u done good, boys, you done good.

Things that are bad:

  • Jose Theodore.  Varly, please get well soon.  (I realize he made some great saves, but all three goals he let in were really, really bad.)

Things that are good:

  • Alex coming over right in front of me and rattling the boards during the pre-game skate.  There were only a couple other fans by me at that time and they all had Sabres stuff on.  Alex, I love you.  I know I said this last December, but you’re HUGE in person.  And your hair is gross.  Yeah, I went there.

Things that are bad:

  • Alex playing arguably the worst game of his career.  First there was missing the WIDE OPEN NET by four feet.  Then there was the dive.  (My mom said Rob Ray didn’t think it was much of a dive and she didn’t either, but it happened right in front of me, and, well, it was pretty embellished.  Oh, Alex.)  Then he whined at the refs, and then he broke his stick.  That was just embarrassing.  I put up with so much crap from him, and then he broke his stick, and then I screamed “I STILL LOVE YOU ALEX” while he was getting a new one because I’m just trying to be a good fan.

Things that are good:

  • The Gerbe Derby got his first NHL goal!!  Yay!  Nate-dogg, I do love you so.  Congratulations, little man.  You earned it.  I’m glad you survived your collision with Tyler Myers, and I have to admit that it was pretty darn adorable.  Also, darling, picking on David Steckel is not the wisest idea since he’s twice as big as you.

Things that are bad:

  • Monty stealing Nathan’s first goal so he only got one instead of two.  Steve, that was not so nice.

Things that are good:

  • Henrik Tallinder’s goal.  Like, when the eff did he learn how to do that?

Things that are bad:

  • The Caps allowing Henrik Tallinder to score a goal like that.

Things that are good:

  • The first period.  That was an exciting period of hockey, folks.

Things that are bad:

  • The third period.  That was a really sloppy period.

Things that are good:

  • Lars’s hair.

Things that are bad:

  • I, uh, nope.  Got nothing.  Just look at that HAIR!

Things that are good:

  • The Sabres coming out after two crappy games and playing a really solid, great effort.  Way to bounce back, boys.  Y’all make me proud.

Things that are bad:

  • The Caps win streak ending.

Things that are good:

  • I got to see the secret handshake!!!!  Guys, it is even cuter in real life.  I laughed for about fifteen minutes.

Things that are bad:

  • I don’t get to see these two teams play each other in person again until March 😦

The Caps Are So Good At Hockey!!/The Sabres Make Me Want To Hit Things.

November 25, 2009 at 10:49 pm | Posted in Alex Ovechkin, Andrew Peters, Buffalo Sabres, Chris Clark, Craig Rivet, Frostee Loves Way Too Many Guys, Happy!!, Henrik Tallinder, Lars Nicklas Backstrom, Losing Sucks, Mike Green, Mike Grier, Patrick Kaleta, Players, Ryan Miller, Semyon Varlamov, That was absolutely terrible., This Irks Me, Thomas Vanek, Tim Kennedy, Washington Capitals, Winning Is Totally Awesome | Leave a comment

As usual, I started the game with conflicting feelings. Then Alex scored, and, um, well, you can figure out who I started rooting for after that.

I was really impressed with the Caps tonight. They managed to hold on to a lead in a game that was 1-0 for the majority of it, and they even managed to kill off lots of penalties late. Holy sweet mother of mercy, Mike Green even played DEFENSE. Like, how does that even HAPPEN? It must have been some sort of Thanksgiving miracle. I’m fully confident he will return to suckiness Saturday night. But it was kind of nice seeing him clear the puck out and do various defensive things. Totally weird to watch, but nice.

Varly, you’s a crazy mofo. ILY even if you do think American girls are really fat.

Lars played a very, very good game tonight. Lars has not been as good as he is known to be as of late, so to see him play so well was quite rewarding. He didn’t get any points, but he looked great out there. Just for that, my dear boy, you can have extra pie tomorrow night. Yes, yes, I know how generous that is. But Thanksgiving is a time for not worrying about our muffin tops.

Christopher Sr. continued to be far too shy to actually score a goal with me watching. Bless his heart.

At one point both of my Christophers were on the ice. It was so nice to have all my beloveds in one place.

The Caps played a great game and deserved the win. Pats on the backs for you, Capitals.

The Sabres, on the other hand, make me think that they will never ever play a decent hockey game ever again. How long has it been since they won? Three weeks? Four weeks? Good grief, they looked awful tonight. THEY DO NOT SHOOT THE PUCK. How many times do I have to tell them? SHOOT THE GOSH DARN PUCK, YOU ANTI-PUCK SHOOTERS!

Ryan Miller is keeping this team alive right now. He had absolutely NO support on the Fehr goal. Guys, one of these days he’s going to get hurt again or burn out or have a nervous breakdown, and then what are you going to do? How will you even make it on to the ice if he’s not there to bail you out every two seconds?

The power play sucks so bad I’m not even going to say anything else about it.

Except this: OMG Craigory when you have a five minute power play taking a penalty is so not cool.

(On the flip side, it was totally B.A. how the Caps killed off almost a five minute power play.)

    Timmy K’s dad is a cutie-pie.

Ok, so, I guess it’s time to get to that hit. Here’s the dealio, guys: Alex hit Patty K. Yes, he did. Patrick’s head definitely got hit, but he kinda sorta saw him coming. And I don’t think it was a vicious head-hunting hit. The ejection was probably more deserved than not, but I’d be kind of surprised to see a suspension. And not just because of who he is.

Alex also always scores pretty goals against Buffalo. Buffalo seems to bring out both the best and the worst in him.

Andrew Peters tried to kill someone tonight, apparently. Petey, Petey, Petey. New Jersey has changed you. I miss the cute, cuddly body guard you used to be.

Vanek must still be hurt. He’s got to be. It’s the only explanation for why he’s been so bad lately. Oh, Thomas. Just get your booboos fixed so you can return to being an awesome goal scorer.

The anthem singer tonight looked like a mini Mike Grier. It was rather adorable.

Henrik Tallinder was on the ice for Alex’s goal. I totally called that.

Finally, before I wish you a very happy Thanksgiving and thank you all for reading, I’d like to pass judgment on Alex’s new haircut. Well done, Mr. Ovechkin. Usually your haircuts are pretty tragic, but this one looks great. It’s not too short, but you’ve taken care of that sloppy mess on your head. I love it.

But please, sweetheart, next time refrain from picking your nose while the camera’s on you.

The Flames Were In Town Tonight.

November 13, 2009 at 10:25 pm | Posted in Atlanta Thrashers, Buffalo Sabres, Calgary Flames, Carolina Hurricanes, Chris Butler, Frostee Loves Way Too Many Guys, Ilya Kovalchuk, Mike Knuble, Paul Gaustad, Ryan Miller, Semyon Varlamov, Washington Capitals, What Is Up With All These Injuries?, Winning Is Totally Awesome, Zach Bogosian | 2 Comments

I was out to dinner and consequently missed the first period.  I hear it was wonderful.  It certainly sounds as though it was.  They finally scored on the power play?  Wooooo!!  The second period was fast, but I was not at all pleased with the lack of shots and the plethora of penalties taken by the Sabres.  Then Sir Christopher had to stand up for Ryan, as he’s a chivalrous soul and protecting his goaltender is one of his money duties.  Then the Flames tried to beat up Clarkey, then Goosie beat up Phaneuf.  I liked the last one a lot.  I don’t like Phaneuf, and I do like Goose, so I enjoy seeing the latter punch the first.  Serves you right, Dion.

It was really great getting to see Jarome Iginla.  He’s an incredibly talented player and we don’t ever get to see him because he’s aaaaallll the way on the west coast.

The Sabres took sixteen too many penalties tonight.  Good heavens, they looked like last year’s box-loving Caps.

I thought RJ was going to stroke out in the last thirty second of overtime.  Rick, you are not as young as you used to be.  Don’t overexert yourself.

The game ended up in the shootout, and, miracle of miracles, the Sabres pulled out the win.  Oooh!! Aaah!!  Weee!!  Good job, Sabres.  You ended up with a grand total of six shots on goal (going from the two periods I saw), but you managed the win.  Excellent, excellent.  I know this is asking far too much of you, but a win tomorrow night would be superb.  Philly is a scary, intimidating team, but I have complete faith in you.  Put your mind to it, boys, and you can do it.  All in all, though, tonight you played a highly entertaining game.  Much better than Wednesday night.  Thank you.

There’s no way Lala starts tomorrow night.

The Caps played the Wild.  Perrault continued to be badass.  Mike Knuble broke his finger and is out 3-4 weeks and I am very sad.  I love Mike Knuble.  Mike Knuble is a good leader and he’s good at killing penalties and he liked my sign.  Poor Mike Knuble.  Varly is slowly working his way back into my good graces.  The Caps have issues to work out, but they’ve looked pretty darn good over the past few games (aside from giving up 3 quick ones to the Islanders and then borderline choking in the final minute against them and taking eleven rounds of the shootout to beat them).  I like it.

The Hurricanes lost their 14th straight game.  It used to be really funny when everyone was wondering if they’d make it to ten.  Now it’s just sad.  Should we send in aid?  Is there something we can do to put them out of their misery?

The Thrashers beat the Kings 7-0.  This is totes awesome.  Thrashers, you rock.  I love you.  Ilya, Evander, AND Zachity Zach all scored.  That’s what we call an awesome game.  I should have watched it.  I’ve never tried watching three games at once before.  I mis try this some time.  Atlanta is certainly worthy.

I got tapped last minute for  babysitting gig tomorrow night.  I’ll be able to watch the Sabres after the kiddies go to bed and they get CBC, but I will be unable to see the Capitals.  This pretty much guarantees that Alex will come back and score a hat trick.  Awesome.
