The Opening Ceremony Was Pretty Cool

It was, I must confess.  Warm fuzzies to the Chinese, for doing a great job (I never thought I would live to see the day when China was given warm fuzzies).  The fireworks, the dancing, the costumes, the precision, all incredible. My jaw dropped several times.  Of course, it was kinda scary when my mom pointed out that if they could get that many people to bang drums or stand in a circle, just think of what they could do if they wanted to form an army.  I also loved all the footage of Bush looking supremely bored, especially when he checked his watch with an exasperated look on his face.  I’m already getting kind of excited for the Winter Games in 2010, because since I’ll actually recognize some of the athletes, I will probably go crazy.

I just finished my daily (over) dose of allergy medication, and it’s starting to kick in, so I don’t think I’ll be of much use for a while.    But everyone had better turn on their TVs at eight tonight to watch Michael Phelps kick Olympic ass!!!
