What A High Score!/What A Low Score!
November 11, 2009 at 9:40 pm | In Alexander Semin, Buffalo Sabres, Chris Clark, Clarke MacArthur, Ryan Miller, Semyon Varlamov, This Irks Me, Washington Capitals, Winning Is Totally Awesome | Leave a CommentI had asked the Sabres to win in a fashion similar to the one they used to beat Edmonton last year. Instead, they beat the Oilers 3-1, and that’s including the empty net goal.
I’ll be honest, until the last five minutes I thought this game was pretty boring. The Sabres continued to not score on the power play (OH MY GOD THEIR POWER PLAY IS SO BAD) but they managed to beat a team playing its third game in four nights. They really needed this win.
Ryan Miller stood on his head yet again. We’re kind of screwed when he finally tires out.
Scary moment near the end when Clarke sent a player into the boards. Clarkey is by no means a dirty player, but I’m just glad we didn’t see any stretchers.
The penalty kill resulting from the hit was spectacular. I was worried from experience that the Sabres would completely collapse, but they pulled it together. Magnificent job, boys. Magnficent.
But can your next game please be exciting?
As for the Caps, it was already 3-1 five minutes into the game, and it ended 5-4. Thank the merciful hockey gods, this time the Caps won it.
Semin decided to be all crazy and scored twice. Eric scored a gorgeous goal during the game and then had a brainfart of epic proportions during the shootout. Varly was awesome stepping in for Theo. Christopher (!!!) won it in the 83rd round of the shootout, and we all lived happily ever after.
The end.
