Happy Birthday!!
July 14, 2009 at 11:17 am | In Happy!! | 10 CommentsDear Readers, it was one year ago today that I started this humble blog. I can’t believe how the time has flown!
While the name is kind of lame (I have this disorder where I suck at coming up with names. Ask anyone in my creative writing class; I get obnoxious when it’s time to introduce a new character.) and the early writing was, in a word, horrific, I kind of like what I’ve got going here. Blogging is fun, and I’ve met some great people because of it.
Let’s take a look at how the year went down, shall we?
The most-viewed post on this blog was It WAS Funny! I DID Laugh! (#55, #56). It was the post I wrote after the Superskillz Competition. Coming in at second is Brooks Laich Has Way Too Much Time On His Hands, Paul “The Goose” Gaustad Has Not Actually Killed A Goose ranks at third, Bruce, Chill. It’s Actually Kind Of Funny was fourth, and rounding out the top five was A Picture Is Worth A Thousand Words (#64, #65).
The top five search terms most commonly used to find this blog were, in order, “carey price drunk,” “jonathan toews,” “brooks laich,” “michael phelps,” and “ovechkin sucks.” I’ll be perfectly honest, some of these terms alarm me. Does this come across as the type of blog where one can come to bash Alexander Ovechkin? Because that wasn’t my intention.
The top five most used categories are, again in order, “Alex Ovechkin,” “Buffalo Sabres,” “Randomness,” “Happy!!,” and “Ryan Miller.” Yes, that seems about how things rank in my world. (Just because I think it’s interesting, 6-10 are “This Irks Me,” “Washington Capitals,” “65 Reasons I Love A.M.O.,” “Losing Sucks,” and “Winning Is Totally Awesome.” I find this fascinating, and as a girl who will always love the Sabres above all else, I find it fitting that I have more posts filed under the losing category than the winning one.)
I’ve written 444 posts and have had 444 comments, which is about 442 more than I expected. This blog has received 62, 921 hits and its busiest day was February 17, when I received 971 hits. That was right after those pictures of Carey Price leaked, and my blog pretty much exploded with people trying to find anything about him. Reading the search engine terms from that day is so rewarding.
So, Dear Readers, thanks so much for reading and commenting and sending emails! It’s always really great to hear from you; I really appreciate it. Here’s hoping to another year!!
(Oh, and Dale Tallon got fired last night, but it’s not like anyone’s actually surprised about that. Have fun seeing Harry Potter tonight!!)

You’re bookmarked on my computer because you’re a Caps fan too. Happy Birthday! The title of your blog is absolutely perfect.

I thought of you when I saw the preseason schedule! Hey, did you know there’s another Backstrom at the Caps rookie dev. camp? N. Backstrom too, but it’s Nils, not Nick. I went today, but couldn’t stay long. Hoping to go again Friday for a scrimmage. I got tortured about the regular season schedule tomorrow, but no one would give it up!
